The Truth about the Dress Code!

Dress code is another point that remains of true importance.  The saying goes, 'Dress for Success' and it couldn't be more true.  When you first meet with you interviewer, the first things that they will notice is your handshake and your presentation.Make sure that both make an impact.  Working within Commercial Recruitment or the Employment Services industry, the best option is to wear a suit however, in Employment Services, a jacket with a pair of business pants or a skirt would be acceptable.  Pay attention to your shoes – make sure they are appropriate and most of all, that they are clean.

When it comes to jewelry, limit it to professional standards.  Too much jewelry can distract from your answers, as can strong perfume or aftershave.

What about you?

After all the preparation, try to relax and look at the interview as a conversation between two adults.  This process is not only there to help the interviewer decide if you are right for the job, but also for you to decide if the job, and the organisation, is right for you.It goes both ways, so know what you want to get out of the interview and out of the role.  Think about this before you go in and ask questions that will ensure you get all the information that you need.

So you're about to leave for the interview…

Before you leave, go through the checklist below.

Can you say YES to the following?

Do you know everything about the role that you are applying for?

Do you have a thorough understanding of the organisation?

Is your mobile off?

Are you appropriately dressed?

Do you have some pre-prepared questions for them?

Good Luck…
